As a young rider Sara Mills has plenty of confidence which is great to see and it showed in the results she was achieving on the trails.  When I met her she was focused on XC mountain bike racing riding for Jetblack Products on BH Bikes, she since has done her studies and switched to Enduro MTB riding so it’s probably time for a re-shoot with her as it was a fun day when we hit the road at Bobbin Head and then trails at Old Man Valley MTB park.  

  I was shooting some black and white portraits at the time and Sara was happy to share her time for some portfolio images to help promote her riding and her sponsors.  I used both my Nikon speedlights and my Paul C Buff studio strobes outdoors for these shots producing still on of my favourites when Sara was doing a set of sprints on the ride bike.  

  Using different gear for these shoots really allows me to create images not otherwise possible unless you happen to come across the perfect lighting conditions on the exact section of track you want to shoot.  This does not happen very often and when you are using sometimes time I want to be quick and using artificial light allows me to achieve that.
